This Post Contains Spoilers for Persona 5 Royal. If do not wish to be spoiled, do not proceed. You have been warned!
This past weekend I was finally able pick up my Nintendo Switch 2 and continue my playthrough of Persona 5 Royal. If you're unaware, I started my playthrough over 2 years ago after my girlfriend gifted me the game for 22nd birthday. At the ripe of age of 24 (and a half) I've managed to put about 90 hours into my current save, and I can see the faint outline of the finish line.
Just to be clear, I'm not new to Persona. I beat the original Persona 5 about 10 years ago and managed to complete the game in 1 week of my winter break during my freshman year. After COVID cut my senior year short, I used that time to complete Persona 4 Golden. So let it be known, I may not be the most hardcore fan, but I am still a fan. For any haters, please redirect that energy elsewhere.
Anyway, this week I began my journey into Shido's Palace. If you're unaware, Shido is the main antagonist of Persona 5. Despite taking down many powerful, evil adults, he was the one truly pulling the strings. While everyone in-game just realized this, the story does not hide this from the player at all, so I wasn't really that surprised. Honestly, they might surprise with something else later because I can't remember what happens next in the story.
So how has the palace been so far? Honestly, the ship theme has been more enjoyable than I remember. I've had a great time trying to track down all of Shido's powerful underlings. This palace is actually the first time I've switched up my party in since I unlocked Makoto. For most of this game, my party has consisted of Ann, Makoto, and Ryuji, but I decided to replace Ann with Yusuke. Why? I can't remember, but it's been working out so far. Ryuji is my favorite bro, and Makoto is not going anywhere, so there's only one party member I'm willing to swap.
I'm very eager to complete this palace because I'm so close to the "Royal" content that I never got to experience the first time around. I've managed to avoid spoilers up until this point, so I really don't know what to expect. The only guess I can make is that it will involve Maruki and Kasumi (Obviously!).
If I manage to breeze through my finals, I should have this palace completed by next week. If not, expect a post expressing my regret about starting a MS Degree.
