Out of Office: September 28

I have a confession to make. It's been over a month since my last post, and I haven't beaten Persona 5 Royal yet. I know, I know. Shame on me. I swear I have a good excuse. I've been really busy. Thankfully not with work, but busy with other cool things.

First and foremost, I went to a concert. A K-POP concert. I'm beating around the bush...it was BTS. Not only BTS, but the second BTS concert I attended in the past few months. It was totally worth the trip down to SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Thanks to connections, I was able to purchase great tickets for my girlfriend and I, and we attended the soundcheck and performance almost near the front.

Compared to the previous concert I attended in Stanford, this was on a different level. Not only was I much closer, but the entire experience was much easier. Stanford Stadium was great, but the heat just made everything more uncomfortable, especially the merch line.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the show but compared to other K-POP concerts I've attended, BTS is definitely able to get away with giving less with choreography and vocals. For any Army, put down the pitchforks. I'm just describing what I saw after two performances, and honestly the energy from the audience made up for everything. I'd go again in the future, especially if they release a better album next time.

I'm not a frequent concert-goer, but I would rate the performance a 7/10 and my own experience a 9/10.

The other thing that's been taking most of my time has been modding my gamecube. Thanks to this Dammit Jeff video, I was inspired to take one of the gamecubes I had won from a SSBM tournament, and mod it. I grew up on a PS2, so there's a bunch of classic games that I've never gotten to play. I've tried emulators, but nothing can really match playing on a console. If I load up an emulator, I'll last 30 minutes before switching to something else. With my set-up, I've already poured tons of hours into Super Mario Sunshine and Metroid Prime.

I won't go into the process of modding because I all I did was follow these steps. For about $80 and 1 hour of my time, I've been able to give new life to something that was just sitting in my closet.

Sorry for the late post, but I'm still working on just writing and posting. As I continue to write, I feel more comfortable putting my thoughts into words and not worrying about if everything is perfect.

Next up, completing Persona 5 Royal.
